Fine Art “The Wailing Wall” “Ha Kotel” FA#17

FA#17   Mixed Media laminated and embossed Pewter on wood.(sold)

Description

The Western Wall, also known as the Wailing Wall, Ha Kotel and the Al-Buraq Wall, is the unique remaining part of a wall of the Second Temple of Jerusalem.

King Herod built this wall in 20 BCE during an expansion of the Second Temple. When the Romans destroyed the temple in 70 CE, the support wall survived. For hundreds of years, people prayed in the small area of the  Wall that could be seen.

This artwork was done using the Pewter “Repousse” technique (embossing)on wood:  black patina gave depth  and strength to this spiritual work of art.
