FA#21 Mixed Media Artwork on wood.
“The Priest”, is a Mixed Media artwork created during my time living in Thailand and influenced by the Asian culture, specially on the use of materials .
The Kohen HaGadol, the High Priest, held the holiest position in Judaism. His role extended through history, from Aaron in ancient times until the destruction of the Second Temple. His job was to oversee the Temple service and act as spiritual leader to the Jewish people.
I used materials as : raw jute fiber, bamboo, brass finger metal claws.
I used as well embossed pewter forming the Hebrew letter שׁ(shin) that appears laying on a gold leaf.
I added to my piece a parchment, hand written by a Scribe, with the Jewish prayer “ Shema Israel” (Hear, O Israel ….) that usually is set inside of the Mezuzah .
